CHAPTER 42

Chris sat up straight on the sofa.

“We’ll hunt that Korean down like an animal he is. Finish this, you and I together.” Chris’s face darkened.

“Let’s not talk about that waste of breath Korean. He doesn’t deserve our time and attention. Let’s talk about happy times, okay?” Cassandra smiled, and in return, Chris managed a slight smile.

“Okay” Chris said.

“Great. I would like you to tell me about your earliest memories of your father. Cassandra tried to keep her spirits up and not sink into an ocean of despair.

That night they sat up late in each other’s arms like the best of friends, talking. They laughed, talked, stayed silent, and a few times, they cried. Their tears mixed like branches of streams that mingled and flowed into a river that became a pool of sisterhood.

Something happened that night between the two, something they both felt in their embrace.

Cassandra leaned forward and kissed Chris’s cheeks. Chris shut her eyelids and tossed her head back. Cassy’s lips followed the firm jawline. Then they met lips to lips. Cassandra stopped, and they both looked into each other’s souls. Cassy took the lead and Chris followed...
